Timson Hill Preschool is a private NAEYC accredited Five STARS program. We are a non-profit family cooperative.
We are located in an historic one-room schoolhouse overlooking the small village of Williamsville, Vermont. The light-filled schoolroom and scenic grounds including trails, fields and a frog pond, provide a cheerful setting for learning through cooperative and independent play and exploration.
We accept children ages 3-5 years old for 2, 3, and 5 day half or full day programs. We are open from 7:30 am until 4:30 pm. Timson Hill Preschool offers 10 free hours of preschool through State ACT 166 funding to all students turning 3 by September 1st.
At Timson Hill we value:Children and their healthy growth in all areas of development
The Timson Hill staff provides a warm, secure environment and uses a developmental approach to design age-appropriate activities that will nurture each child’s sense of adventure, self-confidence, humor, and discovery while allowing observation, investigation, and evaluation of the environment.
Children work toward mastery of social skills and develop self-esteem during process-oriented activities. This allows for individual development through play. The school’s creative, noncompetitive, and nonviolent atmosphere fosters a child’s respect for others, be they of the same or different religious and/or ethnic background. At Timson Hill, children improve upon their social, emotional, intellectual, and physical skills at their own pace.
Program Quality
We are accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children, or NAEYC. We have achieved a rating of “5 Stars” in the Step Ahead Recognition System through the Vermont Department of children and Families. This is the highest rating and raises Timson Hill Preschool’s Vermont childcare Subsidy rate. Through partial public funding and VCPC grants we are able to give discounts to some of the surrounding communities.
